- Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (6 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
- Incumbent serves as the Safety Program Coordinator with responsibility for assisting the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer (POSHO) in carrying out the day-to-day functions of the Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Fire Protection Division (FIR) programs at post as required by 15 FAM 900 and 15 FAM 800; assures that all government-owned and leased property in country meet the requirements of 15 FAM 253.5, 15 FAM 432, 15 FAM 840, and 15 FAM 950, as well as other related Departmental requirements which may exist. Incumbent reports directly to the Post Occupational Safety and Health Officer.
Qualifications and Evaluations
- Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the maintenance or construction field performing repair work or in the field of occupational safety, to include work experience as a construction supervisor or quality control assurance inspector with experience in managing people and resources is required.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental Management (SHEM) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) guidelines and required practices and procedures, general specialist knowledge of environmental safety standards.
- Post-Secondary studies at the College/University level or Vocational/Trade School training in facilities management, environmental safety, construction, engineering, or architecture is required.
- This may be tested. Please specify your level of proficiency in the language listed.
- Fluency in reading/writing/speaking of English is required. Fluency in reading/writing/speaking of any local language.
Skills and Abilites:
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point etc.) and other computer office programs. Typing skills is required.
- Must possess excellent written and oral communication skills to conduct training, writing of notices, and reports in the performance of assigned duties. Must have the ability to coordinate, prioritize and simultaneously oversee multiple tasks and projects.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to be flexible, resourceful, service-oriented, and self-motivated are required. Must have valid Nigeria driver’s license.
