Job Title: Farm Manager (Integrated)

Requirements

  • B.Sc / HND / certifications in Agriculture or Crop Science with a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in crop and animal husbandry field work.
  • The applicants should be a male who has passion for farming and is willing to live in the farmhouse and communities where the farm is situated.

Job Competencies

  • Ability to decide the type of crops to be planted, its quality, quantity, and mode of harvest, preparing detailed plans regarding its planting and harvesting schedules, and collaborating with farm operators for carrying out these activities.
  • Ability to monitor the production and yield quality of crops and livestock’s, maintaining animal health and welfare as per the guidelines from regulatory authorities, and keeping up-to-date knowledge on plants and animal pests and diseases, and taking appropriate measures for curing the same
  • Ability to record information, such as production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares operational reports.
  • Ability to purchase, utilize and maintain machinery, equipment, and supplies.
  • Strict Compliance to farms standards and policies for e.g. health, safety, product quality, property and asset management and environment.
  • Ability to plan and prepare the finance reports, setting up budget limit for various farm activities, and maintaining the farm activities in agreement with the budgeted parameters.
  • Hiring the full time / temporary field workers for tilling ground, managing harvest, feeding livestock’s, and other minor duties as required, and managing the work schedule, wages, etc., of these workers accordingly
  • Ability to manage the sales and marketing of farm products like crop harvest, livestock’s, and dairy production, and planning the production yield on scheduled time for sending it at market auctions within the specified deadline

Job Competencies

  • Ability to direct, coordinate and monitor workers activities, crop & animal management and production activities.
  • Ability to assist in planning and preparing the finance reports, setting up budget limit for various farm activities, and maintaining the farm activities in agreement with the budgeted parameters.
  • Ability to record information, such as finance report, production, farm management practices, and parent stock, and prepares operational reports.
  • Ability to purchase, utilize and maintain machinery, equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to meet production yield, confer with purchasers, arrange for sale of crops and meet sales target.
  • Strict Compliance to farms standards and policies for e.g. health, safety, product quality, property and asset management and environment.
  • Any other assigned duties or responsibilities related to the farm’s operation.

Requirements

Requirements

  • B.Sc / Master’s Degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Science or any other directly related field with minimum of 4 years post qualification experience as a Field Agronomist
  • Must be willing to reside on the farm and to relocate if necessary.
  • Proficiency with computers, Awareness of industry trends, technology and developments, exceptional active listening and verbal and written communication skills is important.

Job Competencies

  • Ability to study plants and soil and develop better cultivation; planting and harvesting techniques.
  • Ability to improve crop yield, quality of seed and nutritional values of crops; and solve problems of the farm.
  • Ability to research, develop, and promote farming practices or products that diminish the effects of changes in soil, climate, and weather or prevent damage from pests.
  • Visiting fields to collect seed, plant, and soil samples and testing samples for nutritional deficiencies, diseases, or other changes.
  • Assisting with the plant selection process and the development of planting and irrigation schedules, budgets, and timelines.
  • Keeping detailed records regarding fields, customers, crops, and samples and generating reports and presenting findings to management.
  • Ability to provide management and technical consultancy services.
  • Sales of professional agricultural products and technology.
  • Any other assigned duties or responsibilities related to the farm’s operation.
